SCHOOL HOURS - THE BEGINNING OF THE DAY

Please bring your child through the main school entrance in the morning from 8.45 am onwards.

The school day starts promptly at 9.00 am when the register will be taken and sessions begin.  At BIS, children will begin to learn about the importance of school routine, so we hope you will support us in this by arriving on time We do understand that occasionally you cannot help arriving after school has begun, in which case our secretary, Luisa, will take the children to class to minimise disruption to their class.

In the event that you are early, we would ask you leave your child with the school secretary so that the teachers have time to set up the activities upstairs ready for the day ahead.  They will collect the children from the school secretary at 8.45 am.

As with all new pupils, parents wishing to support their child by staying in the classroom if necessary in order to help settle are very welcome.

LUNCH

The children will have lunch between 12.00 and 12.45 pm where staff are on duty to assist the children with their lunch.  We encourage the children with healthy eating and good manners.  We will let you know at the end of the day how well your child has eaten.

SNACKS

Throughout the day there is time for a healthy snack.  Again we ask you to provide this for your child.  For example fresh fruit, dried fruit, toast, pitta bread, rice cakes.  Biscuits and chocolate are not permitted. The children are free to drink water at any time they like all through the day.  Please provide your child with a water bottle for snack times – during lunch the Kindergarten will provide as much water as your child requires.

THE END OF THE DAY

The school day is ends at 3.30 pm for the children.

The children are to be collected from their classroom. Please use the main entrance, we will be ready to welcome you and tell you about your child’s day.  If you do need to collect your children earlier, please notify a member of staff.  We would ask you to collect your child from Luisa in the office at this time so as not to disrupt lessons with the other children.

IF THE CARER/PARENT HAS NOT COLLECTED HIS/HER CHILD BY 4.10 PM, THEN HE/SHE WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE TAKEN TO WAIT IN THE OFFICE AND THE PARENT/ CARER WILL BE CONTACTED BY TELEPHONE.

.Please note:

Whilst we have made every effort to ensure that the information on this website is correct, routines, timings and procedures may change as we adjust to the new facilities.

You will be informed of any changes personally or by letter.

THE BEGINNING OF THE DAY

Children in Nursery and Reception should be taken into the Nursery playground by their parent or carer from 8.45 am. This gives the parent and the teacher the opportunity to communicate with one another.

School begins at 9.00 am. On arrival at school, children from Year 1 should go straight to the covered area outside the primary classrooms, where they will be supervised by the duty teacher from 8.45. When the duty teacher arrives parents are requested to leave for safety reasons.

Parents, who drop children off or allow their children into school before this time, do so at their own risk.

During inclement weather the children are allowed straight into school at 8.45 am

THE END OF THE DAY

The school day ends at 3.50 for Year 1 and Reception and 3.30 for the Nursery children.

Nursery and Reception children are collected from the Nursery playground.

Year 1 are collected from the covered area outside the primary classrooms.

If you have children in more than one class, Nursery children should be collected first.

When collecting your child please refrain from coming into the playgrounds so that the teacher on duty can clearly see children who have not been collected.

IF THE CARER/PARENT HAS NOT COLLECTED HIS/HER CHILD BY 4.10 PM, THEN THE CHILD WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE TAKEN TO WAIT WITH MRS BECKETT IN THE YEAR 6 CLASSROOM
